The EOM's Internal Power Centers & Drake's Consolidation

Type: Narrative — Political Structure (Full Text)

Status: Canon (confirmed by creator) — contains an unresolved naming conflict, flagged below

Source: conversations-001.json, conversation #92, "Maf Game Overview" (messages 798-830) — see RAW SOURCE. See The Empire of Man: Warlords and the Rise of the EOM and Drake Federation for the existing, more thoroughly developed account this material must be read alongside.

⚠️ Naming Conflict: "Arthur Drake" vs. "George Drake"

This conversation consistently names the Drake Federation's founder Arthur Drake. The existing, more thoroughly developed Drake Federation and Empire of Man: Warlords pages (sourced from "Kila Vas Financial Growth") consistently name him George Drake, a former IFTR Cabinet member. Both accounts describe the same role (founder/leader of the largest, most violent EOM warlord state). This is preserved as an unresolved fog-of-history naming conflict, not silently corrected in either direction.

Arthur Drake: Character Detail (New)

This conversation adds biographical and personality detail not present in the existing account: born on Illistia 2, 52 years old (at the time of this conversation), 820 light years from Earth — Illistia 2 was among the first settlements of Earth's "First Great Expansion" phase, 1,800 years ago. Described as mercurial, cunning, violent, and ruthless, with an IQ of 180.

A New Assassination (Unconfirmed Details)

Drake is described as having just had a neighboring warlord assassinated, bringing the EOM's total warlord count to 13 (or, in one passage, stated as already having reached fourteen before the assassination) and absorbing that warlord's territory. The source conversation generated three different, apparently regenerated/unreconciled answers for which warlord was assassinated and what territory they controlled — Marshal Corven Tal of the Virex Dominion, Warlord Mikhail Vorcen of the Vantor Dominion, and Warlord Serevan Khol of the Myr Axis Compact — without the creator confirming which (if any) is final. None is treated as settled; flagged here rather than arbitrarily choosing one. This also creates a chronology question against the already-established Empire of Man timeline, which has the EOM's 13 warlords already fixed by 2013, prior to the 2017 Empire of Man formation — whether this assassination is a later, additional fluctuation in the count or reflects an earlier, uncommitted draft stage is not resolved.

New EOM Internal Power Centers

Beyond the three already-documented warlord states (Drake Federation, Huang Li Shao, Io Sei), this conversation names several additional internal EOM power centers, filling in some of the previously-unnamed remainder of the 13 Territories:

  • Iron March, Outer Shard, and Helion Expanse — described as cooperating with each other to establish a joint power center within the EOM, distinct from Drake's own sphere of influence.
  • Huáng Liánhuā — a triad-styled power center, bold, brutal, and "blustery." Possibly an alternate rendering of the already-documented Huang Li Shao (led by Xi Xi Han) rather than a distinct state — not resolved here.
  • The Ashkar Continuum — led by the Synod of Ashkar, a religio-military council practicing ideological militarism. Frames a "2006 humiliation" not as political failure but as spiritual corruption, preaching purification through conflict; doctrinally rigid rather than reckless. Functions as the EOM's escalation engine — if internal unity ever forms, Ashkar will demand crusade.

Io Sei is characterized here as quiet, cunning, and dangerous — "the dagger in the dark" — contrasted directly with Huáng Liánhuā as "the hammer." Until roughly three years before this conversation's present, the various warlords have generally been as dangerous to each other as to outsiders; MACOFS is noted as potentially able to exploit this underlying friction.

MACOFS and Warhawk Covert Presence Inside the EOM

The Janastian Warhawks maintain intelligence operatives and passive stealth-gathering instrumentation throughout EOM space, including artificial asteroids (placed by the Warhawks or by MACOFS on the Warhawks' behalf) disguised with natural rock surfaces but housing extensive intelligence infrastructure buried within. Both MACOFS and the Warhawks have "flipped" high-level military officers, bureaucrats, and diplomats into agents, and share the resulting intelligence with each other. MACOFS has additionally established a covert economic presence: five corporations operating within EOM territory (one specifically within the Drake Federation), acquired via shell companies MACOFS had previously started and then formally disbanded, rather than through any company MACOFS is seen to have "started" directly.

Open Questions

  • The Arthur Drake/George Drake naming conflict is unresolved — see above.
  • Which (if any) of the three assassinated-warlord/territory pairs is meant to be canonical is unresolved — see above.
  • Whether Huáng Liánhuā is the same entity as Huang Li Shao under a different rendering, or a genuinely separate EOM power center, is not determined.
  • The remaining warlord states/leaders beyond those named across all sources (13 total expected; roughly 7 now named across old and new material combined) were requested from the creator in this conversation but not fully supplied.
  • The identities of MACOFS's 4 remaining shell-company-acquired corporations within the EOM (beyond the one in the Drake Federation) were requested but not answered in this conversation.
