Overview

The InterGalactic Authority was created specifically to guarantee the peace treaty terms between IFTR (later the Empire of Man) and Maf, following the War of IFTR (5300 A.D.). Headquartered at Starbase 17, a former Maf starbase in the Confluence Region that Maf relinquished to the IGA as part of the peace settlement.

Role

• Enforces the treaty's terms: no Terran/Empire of Man warships in the Snickers Galaxy; no Maf ships in the Milky Way
• Regulates the Confluence Region as permanent neutral territory
• Limits either side to 6 ships present in the Confluence Region at any time
• Protects the autonomy of "minor civilizations" residing within the Confluence Region from interference by either major power
