Overview

The official currency of Maf's setting.

  • Formal/official name: Helvatica Dollar
  • Colloquial/public name: Kila Vas Dollar — nicknamed after Kila Vas, the central city where the majority of players enter the game and likely a major economic hub
  • ⚠️ Not the same as the Stellar Credit — despite trading 1:1, these are two distinct currencies with different issuers and purposes. See Stellar Credit.

✅ Naming Origin — Resolved

The currency's name traces back to Helvatica, a nation formed after World War 3 and named after Imperial General Lieutenant General Johovus Helvatica, who served as Governor (1982–1984) then President (1984–1992) of that nation. Helvatica later became the core of the NWMG and then MACOFS, both capitaled at Kila Vas. This corrects an earlier archive assumption that the currency was simply named after Kila Vas directly — the fuller chain is: General Johovus Helvatica → nation of Helvatica → Helvatica Dollar currency (with "Kila Vas Dollar" as a separate, geography-based public nickname).

Issuer confirmed: the Helvatica Dollar was the official currency of Helvatica, and remains the official currency of MACOFS today, following Helvatica's political succession into the NWMG and then MACOFS.

Usage Notes

  • Use "Helvatica Dollar" in formal/narrator text, official documents, or when precision matters
  • Use "Kila Vas Dollar" in dialogue or informal contexts where a character would use public slang
  • ⚠️ "Kila Vas credits" (seen in The Hauler's Gambit) is a writing error, not valid in-universe terminology — flagged for correction in that story's text if it's ever revised
