Wetrock

Type: Location — Landmark Status: Canon (published)

Overview

A rock formation at the base of a rock escarpment in the center of the Shapas Desert. The base rock is egg-shaped, about 5 feet tall, and kept continuously wet by water dripping from the escarpment above — a rare, sacred water source in the desert. Site of a stela bearing an engraving of Aa Konta, the source of his recorded prophecies.

Significance

• Central recurring location in the Prophecies of Aa Konta — appears in the first and final visions
• Final prophecy states Wetrock will eventually run dry, coinciding with a violent "iron storm" (likely colonization/industrialization), before its waters are prophesied to flow again once an outsider founds a settlement at a "northwestern sea"

Appearances

• Prophecies of Aa Konta (article)

Open Questions

• Current status (as of Maf's present day) — does Wetrock still flow, or has the "runs dry" prophecy already occurred in-universe?
