Overview
Maf is the planet on which nearly all of this archive's established history takes place. "Maf" is confirmed as the planet's native name, used by its indigenous population — the Original Colonists' own working name "New Hope" was dropped once they made first contact.
✅ Native height, revised by the creator: Maf's native human population runs notably taller than Earth-average — men roughly 5.9 to 7+ feet, women roughly 5.6 to 6.7 feet. (This supersedes an earlier "giants, 6–7 ft average, up to 8'4"" figure from the Original Colonists' own account.) The Colonists concealed their true off-world origin from the natives with a cover story about being refugees from a "totalitarian" homeland in the "far east." ✅ Confirmed: these native peoples are the Kaolsan/Kaolsani peoples, indigenous to Maf — not descended from any off-world source.
Maf is also home to several other distinct sapient races — see Maf's Native Races for the Forest Giants, the Dwarves of the Great River's headwaters, and the Elven Kingdoms.
Despite its very large size (over 6x Earth's diameter), Maf's surface gravity is close to Earth-normal (1.0987 g) — a real but not physically implausible planet, unlike the earlier flagged "anomaly" reading in the source article before the diameter figure was corrected.
Open Questions
- Full geography beyond Norihing not yet detailed — other continents, oceans, etc.
- ✅ RESOLVED (approximately): the Colonists' fabricated origin story was blown sometime in the 1990s, per creator confirmation — exact date pending additional source material.
