Overview
A Career Agent is an NPC (or game master/moderator) who assigns Contracts, Assignments, or Missions specific to one Role — every Career Agent specializes in exactly one Role (Actor, Assassin, Pilot, etc.) and only offers Contracts related to it. Career Agents don't write Contracts themselves — they're third parties with offices who receive Contracts from other parties and place them for a fee: 10% of the monetary award per Contract, charged additionally (not deducted from the award itself).
Contract Difficulty Classes
Contracts range from Easy to Extreme, grouped into 4 classes — each Career Agent only assigns Contracts within a single class:
- Standard Class: Easy, Standard, Moderate
- Difficult Class: Difficult, Very Difficult
- Hard Class: Hard, Very Hard
- Extreme Class: Extreme only
Locations
Career Agents are sited either in Kila Vas or at named space stations (a large list including Aegis Starport, Helvatica SkyHarbor, Helvatica Spaceport, Kila Vas InterStellar Port, MafPort One, New Haven Shipyards, StarPort One, and dozens more functional facilities — refueling, shipyards, casinos, R&D labs, medical, security, etc.). Extreme Class agents are restricted to a smaller subset of major hubs (mostly Kila Vas-area facilities and its Financial District, Casino Strip, Free Zone, and Air/Space Ports).
Career Agent names are generated as alien names roughly 80% of the time.
✅ Full list now preserved: see Career Agents — Full Generated List for all named agents across all 4 classes, with their locations.
Related Systems Refinements (from the same conversation)
- Experience Points: awarded at 1 per minute of active game time × a difficulty modifier (1.3, 2, or 3). "Active" includes simply traveling — a character need not be at the keyboard (AFK is fine if the character is in transit). XP cannot be spent; it only levels up a character.
- Skill Points: awarded at 1 per second of active engagement (combat, exploration, research, negotiation, etc.) — earned specifically by skill type but credited generically as "Skill Points." Spendable on additional skills, in-game currency, body enhancements, or Skill Books.
- Skill Books: the "book-learning" side of a skill; "read" at 1 Skill Point per second, some requiring 1,000,000+ points. Requires a neurochip to learn.
- Combat matchmaking: opponents (pirates, NPCs, players) must be within 25% higher or no more than 15% lower Experience Points to engage.
- Neurochip: implanted at birth for all Maf-born characters (automatic); optional request for characters from elsewhere. Enables Skill Book learning, GPS, hands-free NetCom communication, and thought-based control of ships, elevators, transporters, and vehicles. Skill Book data downloads instantly to the chip, then "drips" into the character's brain at 1 point/second.
