Index of Starnations

Purpose: A dedicated index for starnations — sovereign,

space-faring political entities (as distinct from Planetary Governments, which are planet-bound). This is a top-level category, sibling to `/factions`, `/business`, `/characters`, etc.

✅ Major update: 522 additional starnations were added via a bulk upload of the creator's complete "Starnations" collection (546 files total; 23 already existed in this archive from earlier sessions and were confirmed matching, not duplicated; 1 file — Arcane Nexus — was actually a planet description and filed under Planets instead). This category now totals ~571 starnations. Given the volume, most new entries carry only their source-provided fields (Number of Planets, Capital City, Government, Population, and sometimes Religious Order) plus the original description prose, without the additional Economy/Politics/Military section breakdown used on the smaller set of earlier, more deeply-developed entries.

✅ Post-upload cleanup: cross-checking the new upload against `/factions/` (not just this folder) surfaced 5 further overlaps:

  • Janastian Warhawks — the new upload's version was a generic, low-detail duplicate of an already-established dual-listing; removed.
  • Lum's Worlds and Subaas Star Republic — the new upload provided far richer content than the existing `/factions/` stubs (the latter was explicitly flagged `[STUB — needs expansion]`). Merged into `/factions/` as the primary page in each case; this folder now holds only a short cross-reference stub for both.
  • Drake Federation (Krag Heap) and Io Sei (New Tokyo) — genuine naming coincidences with unrelated, pre-existing `/factions/` entities (Drake Federation led by George Drake; Io Sei led by Tiko Amata). Both kept as distinct entities, disambiguated by capital city in their slug and title.

✅ Listing Policy (per creator)

A Faction is any entity with an agenda of its own (see Planetary Governments for the full rule). Starnations default to Starnation-only — not dual-listed as a Faction — unless specifically decided otherwise. MACOFS and Empire of Man could be dual-listed as Factions, but their scale mitigates against it, so they remain Starnation-only. Some starnations live exclusively here — moved fully out of `/factions`, not dual-listed. Others remain dual-listed (primary content in `/factions`, cross-referenced here) where the creator hasn't specified an exclusive move.

  • MACOFS — Maf Confederation of Free Societies, founded 2007, capital Kila Vas, 22 member states
  • Empire of Man — IFTR's warlord-coalition successor state, ~60% of the Milky Way

Full Entries — Dual-Listed (primary content remains in /factions)

  • Janastian Warhawks — private military company turned independent sovereign entity, formalized 1976 in Kila Vas; also dual-listed under Business: Private Military Companies

Open Questions

  • A full migration/cross-reference pass for all other established starnations (Viachon Empire, IFTR, The Empire, Helvatica, and the many sample/roster-only starnations from the Planetary Governments and MACOFS member-state lists) has not yet been done — flagged for a future session, given the scope. Some of these may end up exclusively listed here (like MACOFS/Empire of Man) rather than dual-listed — pending creator direction case by case.
