The Guardians
The Isle of Trade Police Department is riddled with corruption — most officers are on crime family payrolls. A small, dedicated core force, officially the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) but informally known as "The Guardians," stands apart, led by the pragmatic, battle-hardened Captain Tom Eden. Their task: contain the chaos from warring crime families and keep the Isle from descending into anarchy. See Guardians for their existing page.
Detective Dominic "Dom" Vargan
A grizzled homicide investigator with a reputation for uncovering truths others would prefer buried, and a long history of turning down bribes — making him a thorn in the side of every crime family on the Isle. Assigned to solve Godanam Kitirim's assassination before it sparks an inter-family war.
The Investigation, Day One
8:00 AM — The Scene of the Crime: Vargan examines the wreckage of Godanam's car, destroyed by a car bomb that also killed his driver. The blast pattern and use of military-grade C4 point to an inside job — "someone wanted this loud and surgical."
10:00 AM — The Kitirim Compound: Vargan confronts Sonny Carlos (Godanam's son and successor) and his consigliere, Victor Bellano, directly at the family compound. Sonny neither confirms nor denies knowledge of the bomber, but Vargan notices nervous glances among Sonny's lieutenants — someone within the family knows more than they're admitting.
2:00 PM — Following the Money: Back at the precinct, Vargan and his partner Officer Elena Cruz (a Guardian skilled in financial tracking) uncover suspicious wire transfers: Kitirim underboss Marco Delvecchio made large withdrawals a week before the bombing — possibly hush money, possibly payment for the bomb itself.
4:00 PM — The Informant: Vargan meets his contact Ravi "The Snitch" Malhotra in an Underhive diner. Ravi mentions rival crew leader Elias Dorn may be involved, but stresses the bomber wasn't acting alone — there's a rumored mole within Kitirim's own circle, and Delvecchio's name surfaces again.
6:00 PM — Connecting the Dots: Vargan reports to Captain Eden that Delvecchio's finances, the bomb's sophistication, and Dorn's rivalry with the Kitirims together suggest a calculated conspiracy to destabilize the Kitirim family — not simple revenge.
9:00 PM — Stakeout: Vargan surveils a warehouse rumored to be a meeting spot for Dorn's crew, photographing and logging plates, building toward an arrest or a case-cracking confrontation.
11:00 PM — A Late Revelation: Cruz texts Vargan that Delvecchio has gone missing — raising the question of whether Sonny Carlos got to him first.
