WW3 Battle Theater: Geographic Reference (Developer Guidance)
Type: Developer Guidance — Geography/Distance Reference Status: Canon (confirmed by creator) — full text preserved per archival standard
Precise relative positions and distances for the World War 3 battle theater (Spartania/Shapas Desert campaign), dictated by the creator for map-building purposes. See World War 3: Full Detailed Timeline for the narrative this geography supports.
Theater Dimensions
A rectangle 4,500 miles east-west by 7,000 miles north-south, bounded on the west by the Sharmarin Ocean.
Confirmed Locations and Distances
- The Empire (Xanydeo and Xanthus) — occupies the coast from the rectangle's southwest corner up to 300 miles south of the Port of Wrosjcec (northwest corner region), extending 2,500 miles inland. Its northernmost 700 miles is empty desert, annexed at the end of World War 2 with no developed facilities — giving a misleading visual impression of proximity to the Port despite being undeveloped/unoccupied territory.
- Port of Wrosjcec — upper-left corner of the theater.
- Spartania — upper-right corner of the theater.
- Maiha (Desert Empire's capital) — 1,100 miles east of Spartania, at nearly the same latitude.
- Sentois — 450 miles southeast of Spartania.
- The Shapas oil fields — 300 miles east-northeast of Spartania.
- A second, undeveloped oil field — located 3,000 miles north-northwest of Spartania, extending roughly 700 miles further north-northwest with a width of 400-500 miles; sits in the center of the northern Dielvan Wac Desert, which is also the center of the Kaolsan League. Since these fields remain largely undeveloped, their eventual capture by either the Empire or Desert Empire could replace the oil supply lost at Shapas.
- Kila Vas — 2,000 miles further north-northwest from the southern extremity of this second oil field.
- The Republics of Waon — a huge nation stretching from roughly 400 miles north of Spartania to 700 miles east of Kila Vas; its southern border begins 200 miles north of the Great River's southern bank (i.e., 400 miles total north of Spartania).
- The Great River — enters the theater near the top-center, meanders south and then west, exiting the theater's west side (into the ocean) roughly 3,000 miles north of the Empire's southernmost point. The majority of the Imperial Alliance's member states cluster south of the river near its entry point into Empire territory, extending roughly 2,000 miles further east.
Military Positioning Note
Gen. Rabi forms his army roughly 700 miles south of the Port of Wrosjcec — giving Androve (tasked with intercepting him before he can reach the Port) space to maneuver, but not necessarily time, depending on how quickly Rabi's forces assemble.
