Zeni Barbarosa and Benny "The Jet" Starchaser

Type: Characters — Cargo Pilots Status: Canon (confirmed by creator) — full text preserved per archival standard

Overview

A cargo-pilot duo, introduced at Starbase 17 after completing a supply run into the war-torn Milky Way, hauling food and medicine from Kila Vas to several besieged states, aboard their ship the Desert Star.

• Zeni Barbarosa — a big, booming-voiced human male; leather flight jacket; nerves of steel navigating tight squeezes (asteroid belts, plasma fire)
• Benny "Benny the Jet" Starchaser — Zeni's faithful sidekick and co-pilot, an amphibian (a giant frog), who gets around via a motorized skateboard-type device; deep resonant "Ribbit"-punctuated speech

Introduced enjoying a well-earned meal at Diamond John's Sports Pub (Zeni: bacon-and-barbecue with chili and fries; Benny: mealworms and grubs) after narrowly escaping the Milky Way with their ship scorched but intact, discussing their close call and their fondness for Starbase 17's entertainment, food, and hospitality.

✅ Story Recovered

A story about Zeni and Benny's adventures at Starbase 17 was previously flagged as lost (see Open Questions below) — the original ChatGPT export contained only surrounding commentary, with the generated story text itself missing. This story has since been recovered and archived in full: see Pit Stop at Starbase 17 for the complete text, including their after-mission unwind at Diamond John's and their encounter with old friend Captain Lyle Durand.

Open Questions

• A second story — a direct sequel to "Pit Stop at Starbase 17" — was also referenced in the original ChatGPT export but its text was similarly missing from that source. Whether this sequel is the same story now recovered, or a still-separate, still-missing piece, has not been confirmed.
