Art Sledge's Motor Club

Type: Business — Bar (Biker Bar) Location: Northwest corner of The Four Mile, Kila Vas (a couple miles from the central plaza) Status: Canon (confirmed by creator) — full text preserved per archival standard

Overview

A sprawling, patchwork biker bar, once a hodgepodge of separate buildings. Owner Art Sledge and his late brother Sears bought the entire block using every penny saved from 10 years of hard mining work, tore the roofs off the buildings, and built connecting walls from whatever materials were on hand — brick and adobe mixed with weathered planks, plywood, and even upended picnic tables (one hinged to serve as a doorway). Some areas are covered, many are not.

The Menu

Traditional western fare in massive portions: grills, BBQ, chili, burgers, hot dogs (the "Art's Long Dong"), even rattlesnake and lizard on occasion. Huge platters, huge steaks, mountains of fries, grilled corn on the cob, and — when supply allows — the occasional lobster. Universally praised by anyone who dares to visit.

Art Sledge

Now in his 60s, balding, and never an affable type, Art (like his late brother) was a brawler who ran with the Desert Pack motorcycle club. Countless motorcycle clubs across Kila Vas now call this bar home.

New Year Celebration

Beginning New Year's Eve each year, the Motor Club hosts a week (sometimes two) of motorcycle sports and events, open-air concerts, and nightly fireworks. Often 30,000+ bikes from across the desert and Kila Vas converge here, filling the quarter-mile-long dirt parking lot with motorcycles, dune buggies, "scrub trucks" (homemade vehicles, often just a chassis and engine cobbled together by their owners), and the occasional 18-wheeler.

Reputation

Known as a "disaster" — fights between rival motorcycle clubs are common, including occasional knife fights and gunfights. Local authorities generally look the other way unless violence spreads to neighboring Four Mile venues. Bands (mostly rock, western, country, or metal) and female entertainers of all kinds perform 7 days a week.

Scale and Activities

Source: conversations-002.json, "Maf Game Overview" — see RAW SOURCE. A separate source describes the complex at a quarter-mile long, encompassing several connected bars, motorcycle lodging and repair shops, and a large section for RV campers and semi-permanent residents. It hosts sprawling festivals and barbecues, motorcycle jumping, and desert racing, drawing Kila Vas's unruly biker population — the featured spectacles rather than adult entertainment are what keep people returning, according to this account.

⚠️ Fog of history: this same source states the venue prohibits adult entertainment specifically — directly at odds with the "female entertainers of all kinds perform 7 days a week" detail above. Not reconciled.
