Oscar drives alone along Ridge Road in his beer-can Halloween costume at 2 AM, the city of Kila Vas glittering below. He's a skeptic but feels uneasy on the deserted road. He wishes his girlfriend Nancy were with him, but she'd left the party earlier with her friend Karen, who promised to drop her off later.

Rounding a bend, he sees a shadowy figure — a woman in an old, tattered gown, long disheveled hair obscuring her face, gazing down at the city lights. As Oscar hesitates, she turns, revealing pale translucent skin and vacant eyes, and emits a mournful, wordless whisper. She floats through his windshield; the car's temperature drops. Oscar, undeniably face to face with a ghost, has his skepticism shattered. As dawn breaks, the ghost dissipates into the morning mist, leaving Oscar changed and wondering what other mysteries lurk in the shadows.
