The Maf Literary Canon Project

Type: Developer Guidance — Literary Corpus Framework Status: Canon initiative (confirmed by creator) — framework confirmed; most specific content not yet generated

Overview

A planned world-scale literary anthology project for Maf: building a canonical body of epics, poetry, religious texts, political treatises, folk tales, children's stories, military manuals, philosophical works, and historical sagas — each written in the distinct voice of a particular nation, culture, or species on Maf.

Planned Structure

Literary Types

  • Epic works: national epics, hero sagas, foundation myths, war chronicles, exploration/spacefaring legends
  • Poetry forms: religious chants, battlefield poetry, love poems, laments/elegies, children's rhyme-songs, interspecies dialogic poetry
  • Fictional documents: political treatises, founding constitutions, personal letters, philosophical works, secret military texts, redacted intelligence memos, scientific papers, banned books, prophecy fragments, court transcripts
  • Cultural artifacts: holiday/ritual texts, wedding vows, funeral rites, coming-of-age oaths, traveler's sayings/idioms, creation myths, taboo or forbidden poems/songs

Depth Options

Works can be produced as short excerpts, full multi-chapter epics, quoted fragments with in-universe scholarly commentary, annotated editions, or multilingual artifacts.

Status

⚠️ At the point this framework was established, the creator had not yet selected a starting direction or confirmed which nations/species would be profiled first. A set of illustrative-only sample nation/species names were proposed (Aracel Dominion, Veskai Republic, Heliar Federation, Zentar Compact, Nohri, Malruun) but not adopted or confirmed as canon — these do not appear elsewhere in the archive and should be treated as unused suggestions only, pending the creator's own confirmed nation/species list.

One work has been produced under this initiative so far — see "I Dreamt of You", an in-universe love poem.

Open Questions

  • Which nation, species, or culture this literary corpus will actually draw from first is not yet determined
