Alien Race Compendium (Template/Reference)

Type: Developer Guidance — Alien Race & Faction Generation Template Status: ⚠️ Reference/template material — an open-ended AI-generated brainstorming exercise. None of these names connect to established Maf canon (no MACOFS, Kila Vas, or existing races/factions), so this is preserved as design reference rather than confirmed in-universe content, per creator's request.

Overview

A 12-race, 3-faction playable-race framework generated as an open-ended worldbuilding exercise for the MMORPG, intended as a "design bible" players and developers could plug into gameplay, lore, and future expansions.

✅ See Alien Race Compendium — Abilities, Roleplay Notes & Philosophies for each race's combat abilities, roleplaying guidance, and both faction-wide and individual race philosophies from the same design session.

Faction I: The Concord of Steel

(Militaristic, expansionist, thrives on conquest)

  1. Zyrathi — "Crystalline Warriors"; towering crystalline exoskeletons; homeworld Iraxas Prime; warrior-poet culture; tank role with light crowd control (resonance shockwave stuns), brittle joints as weakness
  2. Ka'Drith — "Insectoid Swarmers"; hive-oriented with individual "Chosen" leaders; homeworld Dros'Ka (volcanic hives); melee DPS/swarm tactics, regenerates near allies, weak to cold
  3. Gral'Torr — "Reptilian Berserkers"; tribal warlords; homeworld N'Ruggas (dense jungle); heavy melee bruiser, rage-based power, poor with tech/ranged combat
  4. Vornak — "Cyborg Enforcers"; militarized syndicate; homeworld Dravon-9 (industrial wasteland); customizable hybrid soldier/ engineer class, vulnerable to EMP/hacking

Faction II: The Verdant Accord

(Nature-focused, defensive, survivalist)

  1. Vey'Lorin — "Aquatic Mystics"; worship a psychic network called the "Currents of Memory"; homeworld Orralis (ocean world); support/ healer role, weak on land
  2. Sylthari — "Plant-Beings"; governed by a council of "Root Voices"; homeworld Thry'Viir (living jungle); battlefield controller (roots/entanglement), vulnerable to fire/frost
  3. Faynar — "Avian Nomads"; nomadic warrior-archer/storyteller tribes; homeworld Skyrend (floating sky-continents); ranged DPS/ scout, fragile bone structure
  4. Thir'Nok — "Burrowing Mammalians"; family-clan based treasure hoarders; homeworld Burrows Deep (underground labyrinth); defensive tank/engineer hybrid, poor eyesight

Faction III: The Shroud Collective

(Secretive, cunning, psionic/tech hybrid)

  1. On'Shara — "Illusionists"; semi-ethereal holographic-skinned; homeworld Umbraxis (orbital megastructures around a dead star); assassin/rogue role (cloaking, hacking), frail
  2. Velkorians — "Psionic Overlords"; hierarchy ruled by psychic dominance duels; homeworld Xevir (desert temples over psionic crystal mines); ranged psionic caster, physically weak
  3. Auvex — "Nanite Collectives"; machine-hive where individuals are shifting "hosts"; homeworld Nullspace Forge (ancient AI-built Dyson fragments); shapeshifter/utility role, vulnerable to viruses/EMP/ psychic attacks
  4. Xal'Nith — "Shadow Stalkers"; predator societies settling disputes via dominance duels; homeworld Vor'Kael (tidally-locked, eternal night/day); hit-and-run DPS, weak in direct sunlight

Inter-Faction Politics (Story/PvP Hooks)

  • Concord of Steel vs. Verdant Accord: a classic industrial- expansion-vs-ecosystem-defense conflict
  • Both vs. Shroud Collective: the Shroud manipulates both sides, selling secrets and infiltrating governments for its own mysterious ends
  • Room for neutrals/mercenaries (human remnants, wandering traders, minor species) in future expansions

Open Questions

  • Whether any of these 12 races/3 factions are intended to become confirmed Maf canon, or remain purely a design template, is undetermined
