Overview
A beloved 1940s Jonesboro character and self-proclaimed prospector, in his late 40s or early 50s, with a long, scruffy brown beard and hair to match. Usually dressed in patched jeans, a red plaid shirt, and a black leather vest or brown jacket, his pockets stuffed with "gold" and "gems" — really just ordinary stones anyone could find in the desert.
The Legend
Often inebriated, Donkey D'Rider could be charming one moment and belligerent the next, but was always a character. He loved telling tall tales of his prospecting adventures in the mountains near Kila Vas and the deep desert canyons — though his own stories gave away that he'd never actually been to the deep desert at all.
His loyal donkey, Sassafras, waited patiently outside whatever saloon or bar he was in. At the end of most nights, Donkey could be found half-on, half-off Sassafras as the donkey carried him to Madame Luigi's Boarding House, where Madame Luigi graciously put him up for the night, encouraging him to bathe and drink some coffee. Each day, Donkey and Sassafras would leave Kila Vas for only 2–3 hours — clear evidence that, despite his stories, he never went far at all.
Legacy
Today, a 10-foot statue of Donkey D'Rider leaning against Sassafras stands in the lobby of Donkey D'Rider's Casino, the Casino Strip casino named in his honor.

- ⚠️ Fog of history: a separate source (conversations-002.json, "Maf Game Overview") describes what may be the same figure as "Dennis" (real name unrecorded, but starting with D) — a mysterious Mahas-region miner who migrated to Casino Strip when it opened, supported himself selling gems, uncut stones, gold, silver, and unusual rocks from the mountains, and always rode a donkey; a casino was dedicated to his memory after his death. This account places him in Kila Vas/Casino Strip rather than 1940s Jonesboro. Not reconciled with the account above.
