Background

Danny DeMarkos has led a life of adventure and uncertainty as a salvager in the vast expanse of space. From a young age, he was drawn to the thrill of salvaging wrecks and debris. As he nears his 40s, he finds himself questioning whether there is more to life than salvaging and indulging in vices to fill the void — the monotony and loneliness of the lifestyle taking their toll.

Motivations

1. Sense of Adventure and Exploration — offers the opportunity to venture into uncharted territories.
2. Financial Freedom — hopes each successful salvage brings him closer to a comfortable retirement.
3. Escapism and Thrill-Seeking — his lavish spending, gambling, and substance use are forms of escapism.
4. Lack of Fulfillment — longs for purpose beyond the transient highs of salvaging.
5. Loneliness and Isolation — craves meaningful connections but struggles to form them due to his profession.
6. Fear of Change — fearful of leaving behind the only life he has known.
7. Self-Reflection and Growth — on a path of self-reflection, seeking to discover true desires beyond the salvager lifestyle.

His salvage ship, "The Buster," serves as his usual home.
