Overview

Widely regarded as the world's oldest, most prestigious, and top- ranked university. Its scholars proposed the calendar system that became the continent-wide standard — see The Calendar Accord of 1888 — and the university's own founding is one of the three events fixing that calendar's epoch (January 1, Year 1).

Jahfaz Institute of Technology (JIT)

In 2020, WIU established its first-ever standalone off-campus school dedicated exclusively to engineering, mathematics, and the sciences: the Jahfaz Institute of Technology, adjacent to Jahfaz College in Jahfaz.

Leadership

Dr. Alistair Venn serves as WIU's President.
